I met these two lovely women , mother and daughter, at my Zumba class. You know how people socialize a bit before classes get started. They were so much fun to talk to. In the course of getting to know them I mentioned that I was a Women’s Portrait Photographer and their eyes lit up. That was many moons ago. I finally cornered them to set up a complimentary consultation. They brought in a bunch of lovely clothing and we set about deciding on what they wanted for their shoot.
Many more moons passed and a few days ago, my wish of photographing them came true. They brought enough different outfits with them I thought they’d cleaned out a major department store. They have such a wonderful connection together. Jo-Ann, the mom is in her eighties and vibrant (still doing Zumba quite well thank you). Such a beautiful woman. And Terry, very stylish and self-possessed with the most amazing thatch of long hair, brought a great sense of direction and energy to their shoot.
Terry had explained how much she wanted to have beautiful images of her mom. I agreed. It is so incredibly important to capture these moments while your loved ones are vibrant and still among us. We are all will-o-the-wisps and gone in a flash. Having images of her beloved mom smiling at her…you can’t really put a price on it.
They both said what fun they had at their shoot. So it was a bonding moment as well. And every time they look at the images, they will be reminded of this day. Legacy photographs truly are treasures.
